Takarazuka is well known in Japan. All of the performers are women who either play male or female roles. This vaudeville is appreciated by many female fans who find there a model of an ideal man who, paradoxically, is played by a woman.
Is there any particular difference in choreography between Takarazuka and other vaudeville like tangos? I see that male roles played by women do not differ from these played by men... except nicer look of course.
According to different tangos found in all kinds of entertainment, tangos danced in threes are usually more dramatic or even tragic. Here a woman chooses a man and she dances with him with a smile on her face, which is not often seen. Moreover the woman is able to stop these men from a fight so that there is no dance duel. I see that kind of difference. Also the combination of two different kinds of music is done in a different way. It is not a hybrid, but they switch between each other in one so called tango song.
